- Central Jackson County Emergency Management Agency (CJCEMA) is a cooperative between the cities of Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Lake Tapawingo, and the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District.
- CJCEMA provides planning, training, and response in the event of a large-scale emergency such as a tornado, ice storm, or hazardous materials release resulting in a mass evacuation.

- CJCEMA is made up of an Emergency Management Director, a full-time Assistant Emergency Management Director and coordinators representing each of the four protected jurisdictions.
- Additionally, CJCEMA supports and involves community partners like the Blue Springs and Grain Valley School Districts, St Mary’s Hospital, and the local law enforcement agencies.

- CJCEMA is responsible for planning, testing, and maintenance of the outdoor warning system that covers all residents and visitors of the CJCFPD and within the city limits of Blue Springs.
- CJCEMA coordinates and trains the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a group of dedicated volunteers that are trained to help their neighbors, community, and beyond with skills in things such as large area search, basic first aid, and fire safety.
