Central Jackson County Emergency Management Agency

Central Jackson County Emergency Management Agency (CJCEMA) is a cooperative between the cities of Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Lake Tapawingo, and the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District. CJCEMA provides planning, training, and response in the event of a large-scale emergency such as a tornado, ice storm, or hazardous materials release resulting in a mass evacuation.

CJCEMA is made up of an Emergency Management Director, a full-time Assistant Emergency Management Director and coordinators representing each of the four protected jurisdictions. Additionally, CJCEMA supports and involves community partners like the Blue Springs and Grain Valley School Districts, St Mary’s Hospital, and the local law enforcement agencies.

CJCEMA is responsible for planning, testing, and maintenance of the outdoor warning system that covers all residents and visitors of the CJCFPD and within the city limits of Blue Springs.

CJCEMA coordinates and trains the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a group of dedicated volunteers that are trained to help their neighbors, community, and beyond with skills in things such as large area search, basic first aid, and fire safety.
